When buying Japanese products from overseas, the sticker price is just the start. Here's every fee you might encounter.
Fee Breakdown
1. Product Price
Listed in Japanese yen. The price you see on Amazon Japan or Rakuten.
2. Proxy/Forwarding Service Fee
If the store doesn't ship internationally: ¥300-500 per item for proxy services. ¥0 if shipping direct via AmazonGlobal.
3. Domestic Shipping (Japan)
Free for most Amazon Japan orders over ¥2,000. Rakuten/other stores: ¥500-1,000 to the proxy warehouse.
4. International Shipping
The biggest variable cost. By weight and destination:
- EMS (5-10 days): ¥3,000-8,000 for 1-2kg
- DHL/FedEx (3-5 days): ¥5,000-15,000
- Surface mail (1-3 months): ¥1,500-3,000 — cheapest but slowest
